Digital Implant Workflow for Complete Arch Restorations

Day 1: Creating the Digital Patient and Treatment Plan

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understanding the different types of restorations and how they are fabricated.
  2. Be familiar with how the post operative impressions link to the preoperative digital plan.
  1. How to plan cases in stages for patients that may want to go from removable to fixed restorations.

 

Speakers:

Dr. Jason Naud – Northland Periodontics, Duluth MN

  • Dr. Naud was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. He grew up in a small waterfront town, Port Orchard, WA. He attended the University of Washington for both his undergraduate and dental school training. He followed this with his residency in Periodontics at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN before settling in Duluth to open his Periodontal Practice.
  • Dr. Naud successfully challenged the American Board of Periodontology and is  Board Certified in Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery.   Dr. Naud also actively participates in research regarding Gum Grafting techniques and material development. He lectures on Gingival Recession, Implant Surgery and Restoration Planning, Implant Complications and Management, and Periodontal Therapy.  He has published two peer reviewed scientific articles and is an advisory consultant for surgical material development.

Dr. Rod VanSurksum – Facial Designs, Minnetonka MN 

  • In 1990, Dr. Rod VanSurksum graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and resigned his commission in the Iowa Army National Guard, where he was part of an airborne infantry unit, and accepted a commission in the U.S Air Force, where he was selected for a one-year hospital residency in advanced dental training at Ehrling Bergquist Strategic Hospital. He then practiced full-scope general dentistry in the Far East and the Middle East.
  • After a 12-year career serving in the U.S. military, “Major” VanSurksum resigned his commission and was accepted into the oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He graduated with distinction in 2000. He became board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in 2003 and remains board certified.
  • In 2020, Dr. Van sold his large, multi-office practice to a prominent oral and maxillofacial surgeon, and he and Amy relocated to the metro area to be closer to their grown children. His goal was to create a small, patient-focused practice, where the emphasis would be on uncompromised quality accomplished with the latest technology and superior materials. He now runs Facial Designs, P.A. with offices in Minnetonka and Excelsior. Here, the patient is treated in a welcoming, small office setting with an experienced team. The emphasis is on patient comfort and treatment efficiency. In addition to full-scope oral surgery, Dr. Van specializes in total mouth rehabilitation with dental implants and fixed dental prosthetics. He will work with your referring dentist or ensure you have a high quality “dental home” for long-term follow-up after completing your Total Design!™.

Dr. Zane Clark-Gold – Facial Design, Minnetonka MN

  • Dr. Clark-Gold was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington. He began his educational journey at Carroll College in Helena, Montana, where he studied biology, was a student-athlete on the men’s golf team and realized his interest in dentistry.
  • He attended the University of Minnesota for both his dental and specialty training. He received numerous awards for his work in dental school including the Frederick K. Noble Scholarship for Pre-Clinical Excellence, the Raymond G. Gill Award for Excellence in Fixed Prosthodontics, and the American College of Prosthodontics Undergraduate Achievement Award.
  • During his three-year prosthodontic residency, he acquired the skills required to diagnose, plan, and treat patients with severely damaged or worn teeth, solidifying his interests in complete dentures, implant restorations, esthetic, and digital dentistry. He was selected to serve as Chief Resident his third year. Dr. Clark-Gold also conducted graduate research and a thesis defense pertaining to implant abutment screw mechanics and was awarded Master of Science in Dentistry.
  • Outside of work, Dr. Clark-Gold enjoys playing the piano, golf and tennis with his buddies, lake days, and downhill skiing in Montana with his husband George. He is very grateful to join the team at Facial Designs and is eager to begin his career in prosthodontics.
