SUMMARY:Soft Tissue Management
DESCRIPTION:Minnesota is the State of Hockey for a reason! The intensity and passion for many Minnesotans to become the best hockey players or cheer on their hockey team is second to none in the country. We want to grow and share that same passion with you to become the best you can become at accurately diagnosing\, treatment planning\, treating\, and maintaining inflammatory disease for your patients. \nSUMMARY: \nThis all day course will cover properly classifying and diagnosing soft tissue inflammatory disease\, the many types and functions of different dental lasers\, predictable soft tissue grafting procedures\, and materials\, and soft tissue maintenance strategies with both lecture and hands-on components. \nDental lasers have become an increasingly popular tool for treating soft tissue disease\, among many other functions\, due to their precision and minimally invasive nature. Lasers can be used to remove infected tissue\, reduce bacteria\, and promote healing while preserving healthy surrounding areas. Compared to traditional surgical methods\, laser treatment can often result in less bleeding\, reduced pain\, and faster recovery times. Additionally\, dental lasers can stimulate tissue regeneration and improve gum reattachment\, making them a valuable option in modern periodontal therapy. \nIn this program\, we will review common etiologies and risk factors of peri-implant and inflammatory soft tissue diseases. We will focus on evaluating inflammatory disease in order to identify site and case specific causes. We will discuss treatment sequencing and expected outcomes while focusing on the different methods and options of laser therapy. Lastly\, we will discuss predictable methods for soft tissue grafting to regenerate an infected site. \nYour course registration includes the lecture with hands on style CE course\, food and snacks during the program\, and an all inclusive food and drinks ticket package to the MN Wild Vs. New Jersey Devils at the Xcel Energy Center. \n  \n \nPROGRAM OBJECTIVES: \nAt the completion of the program\, participants should be able to: \n\nDiagnosis and classify soft tissue disease\nDescribe common etiologies of peri-implant inflammatory disease\nUnderstand uses of modern dental lasers\nUnderstand the indications of CO2 lasers\nUnderstand case specific soft tissue grafting therapy and expected outcomes\n\nSPEAKER: Dr. Jason Naud (Board Certified Periodontist) \nDr. Jason Naud \n\nDr. Naud was born in Honolulu\, Hawaii. He grew up in a small waterfront town\, Port Orchard\, WA. He attended the University of Washington for both his undergraduate and dental school training. He followed this with his residency in Periodontics at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester\, MN before settling in Duluth to open his Periodontal Practice.\nDr. Naud successfully challenged the American Board of Periodontology and is  Board Certified in Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery.\nDr. Naud also actively participates in research regarding Gum Grafting techniques and material development. He lectures on Gingival Recession\, Implant Surgery and Restoration Planning\, Implant Complications and Management\, and Periodontal Therapy.  He has published two peer reviewed scientific articles and is an advisory consultant for surgical material development.\n\nSPEAKER: Dr. Ryan Slaten \n \n\n\n\nDr. Ryan Slaten graduated from Ohio State University\, before furthering his dental education at Spear Education. He is passionate about using various forms of technology to better his patients’ dental experiences\, and encourage them to maintain a lifetime of good oral health.\nWhile working toward his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree\, he attended postgraduate courses on various topics\, including tissue grafting\, osseointegration\, dental implants\, neuromuscular dysfunction\, CEREC restorations\, Lumineers\, and dental aesthetics. Dr. Slaten continues his education through membership in a variety of local and state dental societies.\n\n\n\nSPEAKER: Dr. Joshua Vang \n \n\nDr. Vang was born and raised in the Twin Cities and earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry from Carleton College. He went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2006.\nSince beginning private practice in 2008 at Beyond Smiles DentalSpa\, Dr. Vang has provided comprehensive care across all areas of dentistry\, including surgical and cosmetic procedures as well as facial aesthetics. He is a proud member of the American Dental Association\, the Minnesota Dental Association\, the St. Paul District Dental Society\, and the International Academy of Facial Aesthetics as well as being nominated one Minnesota’s Top Dentists in Minnesota as featured in Minnesota Monthly Magazine.
