Modern Technology In Dentistry

Head up the scenic North Shore to ski the heavily underrated Lutsen Mountain while also discovering the latest possibilities in digital workflows, digital pathology, periodontal laser therapy, and esthetic laser treatments for the modern patient! Your registration includes the CE program, 2 nights lodging at Caribou Highlands Resort, 2 day lift tickets to use as you see fit, and food and beverage during the program!

This multi-disciplinary course will cover a variety of topics in short lecture format. Topics
will cover digital dentistry, pathology, and laser utilization. Digital dentistry will be discussed in depth from surface scanners all the way to 3D printing. We will review the details of surface scanners and evaluate the accuracy and optimal clinical use.

Digital planning will incorporate discussions on smile design and case evaluation from a lab perspective. 3D printing and milling will be reviewed to include benefits and clinical indications of each
technology.

Lasers in dentistry will be reviewed as they pertain to clinical practice. Laser assisted
periodontal therapy will focus on disease treatment and clinical indications. Photo
biomodulation and pain management will be discussed, as well as, dental lasers in
esthetic care.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand how to generate records for creating a digital patient and better restorative planning.

Speakers:

Dr. Roxanna Esguerra – Duluth Dental Implants, Duluth MN

  • Dr. Esguerra is a board-certified prosthodontist with a passion for patient care. Born and raised in Colorado, she earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine in 2008. She went on to the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio, where she received her Specialty Degree in Prosthodontics in 2011 and a Master’s of Science from the UTHSCSA Biomedical School.

Joel Richardson and Tracy Kalscheur – Granite City Dental Lab, St. Cloud MN

  • Joel is the Midwest regional director for Granite City Dental Lab and has over 37 years of experience in the Dental Industry. He is an experienced Ceramic technician, who takes pride specializing in Esthetic Dentistry. Joel focuses a lot of time being well versed in the cutting edge modern dental technologies and their applications for fabricating all things dental.
  • Tracy is responsible for all digital workflows within the laboratory. She is an experienced Crown and Bridge Technician with over 15 years of experience. Over the last 12 years Tracy has taken her knowledge and expertise in CAD to the next level to become an expert in the design milling and printing of dental prosthetics. She is the top resource for digital workflows for Customers at Granite City Dental Lab.

Dr. Laurence Gaalaas – Clinical OMS Radiology, University Of Minnesota

  • Dr. Gaalaas earned his dental degree from the University of Minnesota, followed by advanced specialty training and a Master of Science in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As a dedicated researcher and innovator, his expertise spans development of dental MRI, evaluating clinical applications of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), caries detection and diagnosis, and the development of other innovative dental imaging techniques such as low-dose 3D intraoral radiography. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and an active member of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. Dr. Gaalaas maintains an active clinical radiology practice and has ongoing teaching responsibilities at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Jason Naud – Northland Periodontics, Duluth MN

  • Dr. Naud successfully challenged the American Board of Periodontology and is  Board Certified in Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery.   Dr. Naud also actively participates in research regarding Gum Grafting techniques and material development. He lectures on Gingival Recession, Implant Surgery and Restoration Planning, Implant Complications and Management, and Periodontal Therapy.  He has published two peer reviewed scientific articles and is an advisory consultant for surgical material development.
